What it does
Let your AI agent buy real gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Tim Hortons and hundreds more, in the US, Canada and other countries) and pay in USDC on Base, within limits you set in the SpendTheBits (STB) Superapp. The card is always issued to you, in your name, and lands in your app.
Only for STB users. Your agent needs its own key made in the STB Superapp. An agent without one is refused before anything is charged.
Your first $10 card in 5 steps
1. Get the app. Install the STB Superapp (free, iOS and Android): superapp.spendthebits.com/get, then create your wallet.
2. Make an agent. In the app open Agents, then New agent. Turn on Gift cards and set your limits: per card, per month, and Ask me first for anything over them. Tap Show key and copy the agent key. It is separate from your wallet's recovery phrase and you can switch it off at any time.
3. Fund it. Tap Top up and send about $15 of USDC on Base to the agent. That balance is the most the agent can ever spend.
4. Add the server. In Claude Code: claude mcp add stb-giftcards --env STB_AGENT_PRIVATE_KEY=0x<agent key> --env STB_MAX_USDC_PER_PAYMENT=30 -- npx -y @spendthebits/mcp-giftcards (any MCP client: command npx, arguments -y @spendthebits/mcp-giftcards, same environment).
5. Ask. "Buy me a $10 Amazon.com gift card." Your agent checks the price, pays a few cents to lock it, then pays the total in USDC. The card is ready in the app under Gift cards in about 5 minutes.
Good to know. The total you see before paying includes the store's price and a small service fee; small cards cost a little more than their face value. This one runs on your machine: your client starts SpendTheBits Gift Cards as a process under your own user, with your files and your network, so the tool surface below is what it can do to your computer rather than to a server somewhere else.
