What it does

Run one implementation slice through the repo's full pipeline (slice-plan → risk-audit pre → tdd → reviews → create-pr → review-response re-gate on every post-PR commit) with a fresh subagent per stage, a shared write-ahead ledger, two approval gates, and resume support.

What this skill changes about the agent has not been set out here as a list. Its SKILL.md, shown below, says it in the author’s own words.

The skill itself

A skill is instructions the model reads, so you can see what you are getting: below is the start of its SKILL.md. The front matter loads with every session, the body loads when the skill triggers, and the whole file comes with the install.

7# Ship Slice
8
9One invocation = one ticket = one **PR plan** — a single PR or a stack, decided by slice-plan before any code — built one branch per worktree. The main session is a thin orchestrator: it spawns a **fresh** subagent for every stage, reads each report, and decides go/halt. Stage detail (prompts, models, completion criteria, report templates) lives in [STAGES.md](STAGES.md) — read it before spawning the first stage.
10
11## 1. Preconditions — verify, then proceed
12
131. **In a worktree of the repo.** Session cwd sits under .claude/worktrees/. For a multi-PR plan, the worktree whose checked-out branch matches a ## PR plan row — that row is the one this session builds. Elsewhere → stop and point the user at /create-worktree (it auto-enters).
142. **Scoped slice.** The argument names a ticket (EZTP-NNN) or a short description tied to one. Fetch the issue (Linear MCP get_issue) for title, acceptance criteria, labels, and any Figma link. A slice with no ticket or no acceptance criteria is unscoped → stop and send the user to grilling / /to-tickets. The pipeline builds scoped slices only.
153. **Resume check.** If <worktree>/.claude/pipeline/<TICKET>.md exists (see §2 — it survives the worktree), read it and continue from the first incomplete stage — scoped to **this session's PR row**: identify the row from the checked-out branch, then read only the [PRn] sections for that row (a single-PR plan has one row and untagged sections); rows whose base is not yet built are not this session's business — report them, don't run them. Within the row: an OWED section (started heading, no status line) re-runs first, then a halted stage resumes at its repair cycle, then — if HEAD is past last_gated_sha — the next stage is review-response (§3, stage 8), even long after create-pr. A ledger with no last_gated_sha header predates this format: set it to the sha of the last commit the file records as reviewed (if unclear, ask the user which sha was last gated) before deciding whether review-response is owed. Never treat a missing header as up to date. Completion: you can state which stage runs next and why.
16
17## 2. Ledger — the run's single source of truth
18
19Lives at <main-checkout>/.claude/pipeline/<TICKET>.md; reached from the worktree at <worktree>/.claude/pipeline/<TICKET>.md through the .claude/pipeline symlink /create-worktree creates. It survives the worktree, is never committed (gitignored), and any session — including one back in the main checkout — can read it.
20
21Header carries one last_gated_sha **per PR row** — last_gated_sha[PRn]: <sha> — written when that row's branch is created and advanced by the orchestrator to that branch's HEAD after every review stage that ends green, a repair cycle's green re-run included. A single-PR plan carries one line, last_gated_sha[PR1]. A halted stage never advances it.
22
23Write-ahead: before spawning a stage, append ## Stage: <name> — started @<sha> <timestamp>; the stage's own report fills in its status: green | halted | FAILED (<reason>), key outputs, and findings→commit table where relevant. A started section with no status line is OWED — never advance past a stage without its status line, so a dead agent leaves a visible gap, not silence. An OWED section therefore means the orchestrator itself died mid-stage; a resuming session re-runs that stage from scratch.
24
25One ## Decisions table lives directly under the header, above every stage section; stages and gates **insert rows into it** (an edit, never a new heading). Types: Keep/Drop/Obsolete/Defer/Scope. A Defer/Scope decision needs its ticket link, and an Obsolete or Drop needs its recorded sign-off, before GATE 2 passes. A follow-up ticket filed to satisfy that link is written per ~/.claude/TICKET-WRITING.md; a pasted Decisions row does not count as linked.

Why you can read it

Nothing in a skill executes. The client loads the text and the model follows it, so a skill can be audited the way a runbook is — by reading it.

What it costs in context

Skills are not billed by the call. They are paid for in context: every token the instructions occupy is a token your code, your diff and your conversation cannot use. Here is what this one takes and when it takes it.

≈90
always loaded
The name and description, so the model knows the skill exists and when to reach for it.
4,735
on trigger
The instruction body and 1 supporting file, read only when the skill fires.
2.4%
of a 200k window
Ten skills this size would take about 24% of the window before you open a file.
050k100k150k200k context window

4.8k tokens, estimated from the bundle at four bytes to the token, held for the rest of the session once it triggers. Heavy. Teams tend to install this one per project rather than globally, and load it only when the job comes up.

Servers bill, skills cost

A server charges by the month. A skill charges once per session, in context, and then keeps charging it for as long as the session lives.

Before and after

The same question, put to the same model twice: once as it comes, and once with these instructions loaded.

No worked example has been published for this skill yet.

The procedure it runs

The procedure has not been set out here step by step. It is in the body of its SKILL.md: the start of it is shown above, and the whole file comes with the install.

Prose, not code

These steps are written for a model to follow, not executed by a runtime. It can still be told to skip one, and it will say so when it does.

Servers it uses

None. This skill calls no MCP servers at all.

Everything it needs is in the instructions, so it works in a project with nothing connected — the model reads the file and changes how it works with what it can already reach.

Its SKILL.md does not declare which tools it asks the agent for, so what it touches is whatever the instructions themselves ask for — read them before you install it.

What it asks for
Writes filesnot declared
Network accessnot declared

This SKILL.md carries no allowed-tools line, so neither is declared. A skill grants no permissions of its own — it can only ask for tools your client already has.

What it will not do

Every skill is narrow, and the useful ones say where they stop. These are the jobs this one is the wrong tool for.

What this skill is not for has not been published here. Nothing is implied by that: it is a section the author has not filled in.

What is in the bundle

2 files, 19.3 kB on disk. A bundle is text throughout: the instructions the model reads, plus the templates it fills in.

  • SKILL.md11.0 kB
  • STAGES.md8.3 kB
What is not in it

No dependencies and nothing executable: a skill is text the agent reads, so the bundle is 2 files you can review in full before installing.

Install

Installing copies the bundle into your project. Nothing runs at install time — the files sit on disk until the model reads them.

# Ship Slice · 4.8k tokens when loaded · macOS, Linux mkdir -p .claude/skills && t=$(mktemp -d) && curl -fsSL -o "$t/bundle.tar.gz" https://mcprush.com/api/skills/ship-slice/bundle.tar.gz && tar -xzf "$t/bundle.tar.gz" -C "$t" && [ -d "$t/ship-slice" ] && { [ ! -e .claude/skills/ship-slice ] || { mv .claude/skills/ship-slice "$t/.previous" && echo "Previous copy moved to $t/.previous"; }; } && mv "$t/ship-slice" .claude/skills/ && echo "Installed .claude/skills/ship-slice"

Windows PowerShell says 'running scripts is disabled on this system'? Run Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser RemoteSigned once, or type npx.cmd instead of npx (codex.cmd, gemini.cmd, grok.cmd likewise). PowerShell 7 needs neither. Writes to .claude/skills/ship-slice/ in the current project. For every project instead, run mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && t=$(mktemp -d) && curl -fsSL -o "$t/bundle.tar.gz" https://mcprush.com/api/skills/ship-slice/bundle.tar.gz && tar -xzf "$t/bundle.tar.gz" -C "$t" && [ -d "$t/ship-slice" ] && { [ ! -e ~/.claude/skills/ship-slice ] || { mv ~/.claude/skills/ship-slice "$t/.previous" && echo "Previous copy moved to $t/.previous"; }; } && mv "$t/ship-slice" ~/.claude/skills/ && echo "Installed ~/.claude/skills/ship-slice" (macOS, Linux) — or add --global to the npx line. The curl line replaces .claude/skills/ship-slice/ only after the download succeeds, so files left there by another skill of the same name, or by an older release, do not mix in. A copy already there is moved aside, not deleted, and the line prints where.

Which clients pick it up on their own

A skill is a folder of text. Most of these read a skills folder and pick it up without being told; the rest take the same folder another way — an upload in the app, a parameter on an API call — and then choose it by its description just the same.

Versions

Its author publishes no version number, so there is nothing here to pin to: what you install is the folder as it stands today. Instructions change more often than APIs do — a skill can be rewritten entirely without anything it depends on moving.

Pinning

Nothing to pin to: this skill carries no version number of its own. What you install is what the folder holds on the day you install it.
