What it does

Edit text inside existing PDFs: replace, delete, redact, insert, fill forms; original fonts kept.

Quickstart

# 1 — add it to Claude Code
claude mcp add --scope user pdfedit-mcp '--' npx -y @niubai/pdfedit-mcp

# 2 — ask your agent for something these tools do
# pdf_edit, pdf_batch, pdf_find and 2 more

Pdfedit costs nothing on mcprush: there is no plan to choose here, no cap to set and nothing mcprush can bill you for.

Collected from a public index. Nobody has claimed this account, so nothing here was written by its author — claim it if it is yours.

Installation

Where are you running it?

Every route below installs the same thing and ends at the same approval screen. This one can run either way — at an address its publisher runs, or as a process under your own user, with your files and your network — and this marketplace is in the path of neither.

Claude Codedeclared by this listing

This is a public server: you run it yourself and this marketplace is not in the path. You need Node.js — the current LTS (24) is the safe choice; npx comes with it. Claude Code registers it in one command; --scope user makes it available in every project. The '--' is in quotes so that PowerShell passes it on.

claude mcp add --scope user pdfedit-mcp '--' npx -y @niubai/pdfedit-mcp

Reconnect, or start a new session, and the tools appear in the model’s tool list.

Or connect to its publisher’s address

Its publisher also runs it at https://pdfedit-mcp-remote.niubai-pdfedit-remote-worker.workers.dev/mcp: nothing to start on your machine, and this marketplace is not in the path.

claude mcp add --scope user --transport http pdfedit-mcp https://pdfedit-mcp-remote.niubai-pdfedit-remote-worker.workers.dev/mcp

Free on mcprush, and it runs from its publisher’s own package: this marketplace is not in the path, so there is no key of ours to hold and no card to add.

What it asks of you

Nothing is required, but it can take PDFEDIT_API_KEY (API key for the PDF Edit API. Without one the server can still reach a gateway you run yourself; the hosted endpoint has a keyless free tier.), PDFEDIT_BASE_URL (Gateway base URL. Defaults to http://localhost:8000; set it to the hosted API or to your own deployment.) if you want to set them.

What it writes

One config entry your client uses to start the process locally. A local server runs with your file system and your network, which is why it is priced without metering.

What you approve

5 tools, with what each one reads, writes and reaches shown before you agree — the same list on every route above. Read the tool surface.

Edit the text of an existing PDF in place: replace, delete, redact, insert, or fill form fields, keeping the original layout, fonts and everything you did not point at. edits[] is taken exactly as the API takes it (op, scope, match, fit), and the result carries up to 3 before/after previews of the pages that changed. To change text on one page only, set scope.pages; to pick one of seve

Parameter	Type	Required	Notes
file	string	yes	The PDF: an absolute (or ~) local path, which this server uploads for you, an https:// URL the API fetches, or an f_… file id from an earlier call.
edits	array	yes	The edits to apply, in order, exactly as POST /v1/edit takes them.
options	object	no	—
password	string	no	The document open password, when it has one.
output_path	string	no	Where to write the edited PDF (stdio mode only). Default: <name>.edited.pdf next to the input.

Apply the same edits to one template PDF once per record, producing one output document per record — a mail merge over an existing PDF. Returns a job_id: call pdf_job with it for the per-record results. To change text on one page only, set scope.pages; to pick one of several identical matches, use scope.after with nearby text or scope.occurrence. Use op: 'redact' when the text must be

Parameter	Type	Required	Notes
file	string	yes	The PDF: an absolute (or ~) local path, which this server uploads for you, an https:// URL the API fetches, or an f_… file id from an earlier call. Used as the template for every record.
edits	array	yes	The edits applied to each record, with {field} placeholders filled from it.
records	array	no	One object per output document.
records_url	string	no	A CSV or JSONL file of records, instead of records.

Read the text of a PDF: every span with its page, position, font and span id, optionally filtered by query (the same four match modes an edit uses) and pages, over the content, forms and annotations layers. Render one page of a PDF as a PNG image block, optionally cropped to region and with rectangles drawn over highlight. Use it to see a page before editing it, or to check the result afterwards.

The result of an async edit or a batch, by job_id: the same body pdf_edit returns once the job is done, plus progress while it is still queued or running, and records for a batch.

Parameter	Type	Required	Notes
job_id	string	yes	The job_id an async edit or a batch returned.
output_path	string	no	Where to write the finished document (stdio mode, single-document jobs only).

Release 0.1.3 · scanned 16 Oct 2026

Two independent axes, because powerful and malicious are different questions. The grade is threat only. The capability level is blast radius, and it is never a penalty on the grade — it is priced as one subtract-only term in the score, where you can see it.

Score vectorthreat 100 → client 97

Term	Level	What it prices	Points
capability-exposure	moderate	capability blast radius (moderate) — client exposure if the model is manipulated	−3
verification-discount	source	publisher verification (provenance) — cryptographic build provenance ties the artifact to its source	−0
coverage-honesty	source	inspection depth (source) — how much of the target the scan could see	−0

score = clamp(round(threatScore − E_cap − E_ver − E_cov), 0, 100). No model, no opinion, no network call at scoring time: the same methodology version against the same bytes always produces this number, and every line above is a field of the report rather than a summary of it.

What the scan could actually read

A grade is only as meaningful as its coverage, so the scanner publishes its own depth before it publishes its result.

Live transportnot available

Tools were statically extracted from the published source (5 recovered), not enumerated from a running server. Tool-poisoning, Unicode-smuggling, capability and toxic-flow analysis ran on this inferred surface, but a mis-parsed registration could be missed or mis-attributed, so tool-derived findings are capped below “confirmed”. To grade the real runtime surface, scan the running server: --command "npx -y <package>".

Capability — what it could do if the model were manipulated

Tags derived from each tool’s schema and the implementation, not from what the tool calls itself. moderate is the level these add up to.

Tool	Capability tags	Why the tag was assigned
pdf_edit	external-sink	external-sink: declares readOnlyHint: false, openWorldHint: true
pdf_batch	external-sink	external-sink: declares readOnlyHint: false, openWorldHint: true
pdf_find	untrusted-input	untrusted-input: declares openWorldHint: true (interacts with entities outside the server)

Toxic-flow graph

The lethal trifecta, checked as a graph rather than as a checklist: untrusted input, a sensitive source and an external sink have to meet before there is a path worth worrying about.

flow-1

Untrusted input can drive an external action even though no sensitive source is exposed.

Every result on this tab comes from one deterministic pass over the published package — offline, rule by rule, and auditable line by line above. Same methodology version, same bytes, same score.
